Is there anything happening in space this year on that date? I heard someone talking about it.

A meteor shower on the night of August 12. It will be best observed in the predawn morning of August 13. Just get up early, go outside and look up. No special equipment needed, just your eyes. Try to find a place as dark as possible and without too many trees and building blocking the sky. Even at the peak of the shower you may go several minutes without seeing a single meteor, especially if your sky isn't very dark, so give it some time before you give up looking. If you see nothing in 20 or 30 minutes, then just give up. Meteor showers are very unpredictable..

Perseids meteor shower should peak around the 12th/13th. Get out and watch it........it's a wonderful experience.
