what I find so funny is that the christians own holy book (the bible) actually confirms that divination, fortune-telling, and witchcraft are definitely possible. Even if they condemn it as fraternizing with the devil.
I consider myself a witch. And I neither believe in satan nor do i call upon him for my spells.
i dont think many witches believe in the christian heaven. many believe in Summerland. I myself dont think that Diety would make us choose any one religion to join them in a heaven like world.
and as far as christianity goes, well they cant even agree on how to get to thier "heaven" so i hold no bearing on it.

Why would someone who doesn't subscribe to christianity care if they got into "heaven"? That's pretty much crashing somebody else's party isn't it?
Yes, there are witches. Probably not the kind of people you expect them to be though.
The advantages of being in a non-authoritarian spiritual structure should be fairly obvious.....you don't have to knuckle under to official dogma or to the enforcers of the status quo, since your path to the divine is yours and yours alone.
The disadvantages should be fairly obvious as well. Most of the eastablished patriarchal collection agencies want to kill you...or at least burn you a little. They can get very vehement about it at times.
And to answer your second question last...I'm a GDI eclectic pagan (that's God Darned Independent to you sensitive types). I follow no orthodoxy, and have alligance to no particular pantheon.
If it seems to work spiritually, I take it and use it. If it doesn't I admire the way some folks take comfort from it and move myself along. My will determines the course of my life, not the words of some muttering priest, or the scribblings of a bunch of nomadic goatherders.
Which of us is right and which is wrong? All too soon we will all know for sure, but until then I'm enjoying my life, which is more than most here can say.

the sell you soul to satan sort of witch will not go to heaven but a good witch wil , and even one who use to dabble in black magic but turned good, I work alot with herbs one person calls me a folk healer, I do simple spells for love and other things although I can do some very powerful ones when I want to, mostly they work and very well I might add. I have learned a great deal about black magic and know spells and such that would be considered black but I have never used them so I wouldn't call me evil but I have the knowledge being a witch doesn't mean you are damned as long as you do more good than bad there are advantages alot actually the only disadvantage is that peolpe sometime think you evill and get the wrong impression of you as a sterotipical one

Yes there are witches. The advantages are that you get to follow a path of your own making. The disadvantages are that it's a lot of work and that there are idiots out there who think you need "saving" (whatever that means).
And witches go to Summerland before being reincarnated (if that's what they believe). Wiccans don't believe in a heaven or hell.

Yes there are people that practice different sorts of "magic" but it isn't like Harry Potter. As other people have noted they are polethesitic, or monothesitic and believe that all the energies converge into one, or they are atheistic and believe magic is just a way to approach the world and see the wonder in everything/ or and a way to manipulate energy.
People have been labled witches for being herbalists, midwives, gonstic, alchemists, or simple female. Peopl econsider themselves witches because they are pagan or female and wish to reclaim the word and reclaim the power from a word that originally meant "wise woman", changing the negative connotations of woman in power or woamn with wisdom.
The advantages to being a solitary witch are no hard and fast rules, finding your own answers, discovering more about yourself, communion with nature, learning how to heal yourself and others, and knowing that you are finding what is true for YOU that you are not being manipulated. The disadvantages to being solitary are it's easy to be lazy, lonliness, it's easy to be sloppy not discipline, prejudice, and failure opr biting off more than you can chew. Covens or Groves or clans have the advantage of community, it's hard to be lazy or sloppy, and there is more emotional safety you ar emuch less likely to try things you aren't ready to do, and prejudice is easy to deal with when you have support. The disadvanteages toa conve are it is easier to be manipulated, the rules they follow might not work as well for YOU, and you have to follow someone else's rules, and new covens often have growing pains with gossiping, power struggles, and bed hoping. Circles are not so formal and can either have all the advantages of both, or all the disadvantages and no advantages or both the advantages and disadvanatages.
I belive that the Bible like all books was written by people. It does say that witches won't go to heaven, but it also says that woman are unclean and should squat on holes during thier menstral cycle, and that guys are going to ride on horses in the sky bringing disease. I think you can find alot of wisdom in the Bible & a lot of hooey, and I consider myself spirtual. There are witches that consider themselves Christain and others that believe in reincarnation, and others, that belive in Summerland, and other that believe in simple death, ETC

Yes, there are witches.
I'm a familial witch; that means that witchcraft is a tradition that has been passed down in my family from generation to generation, and has been for over 600 years.
The advantages and disadvantages of ANY belief system are whatever you make them.

If you are talking about Harry Potter or Charmed witchcraft then no, it doesn't exist. Those kinds of programs take the concept of witchcraft and make it entertainment. A real show about ritual and spell work would be as exciting as a papal mass from the vatican.
There are a lot of different types of people who do spellwork/energywork. I'm sure you'll hear wicca from someone who practices it. For me, I use energy to help, to heal, for guidance and for balance. Personally I don't direct any energywork at someone who isn't specifically willing.
The results vary. Just as in prayer where the answer you get may not be the one you want, I too have had unexpected and ultimately pleasant results.
And the answer to your last question will depend on just how brainwashed the answerer is.
Blessings

In real life, the term "witch" generally applies to Wiccans, which is a Pagan (polytheistic) religion, which means they believe in more than one god. I'm not religious, but I would assume that if you believe non-Christians do not go to heaven, then you believe that "witches" do not go to heaven.
