I LOVE it!
although you know the child will be made fun of in school. It happens with ANY name that is unusual. We do get over it though!

Man, if my BFF knows that much about Harry Potter to give you so much of an answer than I don't know what else to add.... (hint: she's the second answer)
I am not so sure I like it. It sounds kinda harsh and other worldly.... Just my opinion.
Plus it's too soon after Harry Potter to use the names that aren't normal or usual from it.
J.K. Rowling has famously used mythological creatures as name bases for her characters. And she uses their mythological backgrounds as part of their characters also.
Please think of something better. Please!
I actually kind of like the name "Finn." Only because of A Seperate Peace though. It is a good book and the name doesn't sound so harsh.

In Harry Potter, there is a werewolf named Fenrir Greyback he is a villian if you don't know the books. How about Finnigan, Findlay, Finlay, or Finn? Or if you want a different character from a book, how about Huckleberry Finn?

Harry Potter fan??

It's okay... Lots of people will call him an ar$e because "Rear" is the end of his name.

Background on the name: Fenrir or Fenris in Norse mythology is a gigantic and terrible monster in the shape of a wolf. He is the eldest child of Loki and the giantess Angrboda. The gods learned of a prophecy which stated that the wolf and his family would one day be responsible for the destruction of the world. They caught the wolf and locked him in a cage, bound in chains made by dwarves. Fenrir then requested that one of the gods put their hand in his mouth before he was chained as a sign of good faith. Tyr, the god of war and justice, did and his hand was bitten off (Pettigrew?). In the final battle, Fenrir will escape from his bindings and eat Odin (Lucius?), and Odin's son Vidar (Draco?) will kill him by stabbing him in the heart or ripping his jaws apart. Other stories claim Fenrir will be killed with Vidar's iron boot (Pettigrew?). Also, the evil wolf Captain serving the White Witch in C.S. Lewis' The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was named Fenris Ulf.

Oh ... Fenrir (I mean the original, mythological Fenrir) wasn't such a nice character ... a giant wolf that would eventually grow too large for his binds and start the end of the world. He even named one of his sons Hati (meaning "Hateful"). He was one of those personifications of evil.

Other than that, I dislike the sound "Fin" in a name... Finley, Finbar, I just don't take it as attractive. "Rear" isn't exactly appealing to me either ... just somewhat of a grating sound.

Rowling got the name from a monster in Norse mythology.
It hasn't got a very nice meaning, but if you're not into meanings of names it sounds ok.

i like the name but i HATE the character in harry potter. I wouldn't want to be named after a character that is so mean and cold blooded.

You've got to leave the "rear" out of it. How about Finn?
