I just saw a woman called amy winehouse on the TV and she has tattoos like a 19th century sailor.

what on earth possessed her to do that? it looks terrible.

does anyone like the tattooed ladies?

I don't mind discrete ones, but big overblown ones look strange on a woman.

its maybe that i grew up in a time when only men had tattoos?

omg i have fallen into the conservative que on this question obviously. why do you all assume its ok for guys but girls only get tiny girly tats that can be hidden so she can be prim and proper?
i have 4 tat all are indeed small and hideable. however that being said every tat i have except for the first (a butterfly) which was an impulse buy, have a meaning for me i have tats on my shoulders that reflect my spiritual beliefs and plan for another on my ankle for the same reason. i am not trashy hold a corp job and go to work everyday in biz attire and as long as the shoulders are covered no one whould know. but i think it is deplorable how judgemental everyone answering this question has been. i personally think if it is interesting art and well executed that tats are hot on girls. take a look at some of the suicide girls pics. oh yeah never mind they are women not ladies and everyone here is more interested in etiquette than reasons behind tats.

It DOES look tacky.
Most of the motivation behind it is saying "I am SO pretty, I am SO gorgeous, that I can disfigure myself with a whole bunch of tattoos and STILL look good". Many observers have said that Amy DOES have musical talent, but she using this as an excuse to squander her reputation.... tattoos (they are recent) cancelling shows with no notice, spitting at fans (yes -on stage), turning up to interviews drunk, in fact most of her off-stage life drunk or stupid.

Sadly, many start at looking really haggard and ugly and get worse. One reason I HATE summer, fat ugly women with a bunch of cheap tattoos - eeerk!

Like many other yahoo-ers have said for this one, they will look really ghastly when these women get 40+, 50+ .... 60+. I wonder if in 30-40years time they will point to some wrinkled up insignia of a dragon and say to their grandkids "See kids, so glad I got this when I was 20".

I am a "tattooed lady" myself, but I would call them quite discrete. You can't see them if Im normally dressed, which I (obv) think is alright.

Regardless whether its male or female, I dont think it looks good when someone has that many tattoos!
Oh well, not my skin ^_^

Take care,
JB

P.S. Mentioning Amy Winehouse - I think she's really pretty but those tattoos just spoil it!

They can look really good if they are done well but if they aren't well placed they make a girl look like a complete tart.
Even guys look terrible with too many. I'm sorry to say that I see people covered in brightly coloured tattoos & immediately make the assumption that they are of low intellect, which may or may not be the case.
Once the colours fade they have a tendency to look dirty & shabby. Not a good look on anyone.

I think tattoos are trashy. I can accept a few tattoos on some men, like cops or sailors, but for the most part they should be on the upper arm only. Too many are tacky. And they ruin a woman's natural beauty.

Do you really want to see a cartoon every time you look at your woman's tit?

A woman in our newsagents shop has a Panda tattoo on her left boob at the top, just showing above her dress, it looks quite cute, but generally I don't like them.

I don't like tattoos on anyone. Having said that, my dad had a few (done during his army days in WW2) and my daughter-in-law has 10 tattoos.

I think it's her skin and she can do with it whatever she wants. She's pleasing herself and hasn't hurt anyone by getting the tattoos so what's the big deal? I don't necessarily agree with her, but still there are more horrible things that people do to themselves in order to please others, like young girls trying to look size 0.

Tattoos on women are great if you keep them reasonably small and in the right sexy places...but when you start to look like Dennis Rodman then you have ISSUES!!!

Small tattoos can be kinda sexy but I don't like large ones on a woman. I think a woman's body is naturally very beautiful but if they want to cover that up it's their choice.
