The more clutter you have on your desktop, the more memory is used and the slower your computer will function. What I usually do is have a special folder for things I want to save on my desktop. That way, there is only one folder on my desktop that has all of my clutter in it. It's like folding your underwear instead of cramming it into the drawer. May not seem like much, but it adds up and it does help.
