Yes, Pavel Bure is indeed a Hall of Famer, and he will one day be there.

Why is he a Hall of Famer?
Fewer games than Cam Neely
More goals than Cam Neely
More points than Cam Neely
Higher PPG than Cam Neely
The only 2 time winner of the Maurice Richard trophy.

One sad fact.........Pavel Bure has not officially filed his retirement papers with the NHL, which some of the committee see as a requirement to be eligible.

His games total is similar to both Cam Neely and Mike Bossy (both of whom are in the Hall of Fame) and his statistics are far superior to that of Neely (who had to wait until his 6th yr of eligibility to make it in).

At least 2 members of the committee brought his name forward this past year, so there is hope.

He will be in the Hockey Hall of Fame someday, I'm sure of it.

As a Flordia Panther in 1999-2000, he scored 23.7% of his team's goals (He scored 58 times compared to 244 by his whole team). He was practically the only reason Florida still had team between 1999 and 2002.

He scored a better percentage in 2000-01 (59 goals out of the 200 his team scored for 29.5%). In fact, no other player on the team scored more than 14 (Viktor Kozlov scored only 14).

Compare these statistics with Wayne Gretzky's and Mario Lemieux's best seasons:

Gretzky (Edmonton Oilers)--1981-82: 92 goals out of the 417 his team scored for 22.1%

Lemieux (Pittsburgh Penguins)--1988-89: 85 goals out of the 347 his team scored for 24.5%

Bure's stats speak for themselves. Yes, he did miss a ton of games, but the Hockey Hall of Fame shouldn't punish someone who had many injuries. Mike Bossy and Bobby Orr are Hall of Famers even though their careers were very short. Plus it says a lot when Bure earned the moniker "The Russian Rocket" in his playing days. Fittingly, he was named winner of the Maurice Richard Trophy (most goals) in 1999-2000 and 2000-01. Ok, so he didn't win the Stanley Cup but the last I checked there were plenty of players in the Hall of Fame who never won the Cup. Names like Bernie Federko, Brad Park, Gilbert Perreault and Marcel Dionne come to mind. Now Bure was definitely better than both Federko and Perreault.

Now if the NHL considers changing the name of the Hart Trophy to someone else, they should change it to the Pavel Bure Trophy.

Although he is a favorite player of mine, I would have to say he doesn't stand a chance. Two 60 goal seasons is a strong feat (especially in Florida), but he didn't win that cup and never made it to 500 goals. His most impressive accomplishment is that he ranks third in career goals per game...right behind Mike Bossy and Mario Lemieux, and nicely ahead of The Great One, Brett, and Bobby Hull. I believe if he could have sucked it up to get to the 500 goal mark at his regular pace, he would have had to be a serious consideration for the Hall of Fame.

Since it's not really the Hockey HOF, he might not get in. I mean, shouldn't guys like Mark Howe, Glenn Anderson and Vaclav Nedmonasky be in?

He should be easy but then again Bernie Federko, Mike Gartner and Dick Duff are HOFers.

Of course!!!!

He was a six time all-star.
His career was riddled with injuries, look at his statistics in relation to games played. 779 pts in 702 gms.
Statistics aside, watch him play... he was electric out there and was often the best player on the ice.
