I am against it, but this is about slavery that occurred a long time ago. Slave trade is a current issue that needs to be addressed instead of worrying an old bone.
Here is a novel that might interest you.

I have met this young man, and he is remarkable.

UPDATE
Re your edit. It is not true that I will sign the letter to the PM if I am sincerely against slavery. I work to educate people and help to finance good organizations.

You mean the slave trade as it is currently going on among Islamics and others on the Dark Continent? The trade where you can walk into the marketplace and buy another human being to become your property right now.....today?
Or the historical events that took place over 150 years ago that have long since been banned among civilized nations?
LOL.....yeah....that's what I thought. Have a nice day being indignant about things that no longer matter.

Saying that you disagree with forcing a government to apologize for something it was not directly responsible does not mean that you are "for" the slave trade. No one that is currently in the British government is responsible for the African slave trade. But if you insist on getting an apology, you should insist on getting an apology from EVERYONE whose ancestors were involved - this includes the tribes in Africa who enslaved and sold Africans...

I'm against slavery but I also think we shouldn't have to pay for our father's sins.
Note - Umm... Ahcho N. You'd have to be close to 100 years old for that to be close to true...
Note - halestrm I just looked at that link. Wow... I will read it as soon as I can find it in the library. Thank you.

Oh come on now. I'm in the US and my grandfather fought in the Civil War to help free the slaves and I'm pretty much just like my grandfather.
