Being in the business for a while since 1987, I have seen transformation of mode of communication from snail-mail/Telex to Fax into E-mail and file attachment etc. The communication part has been very well taken care of by Internet and the current speed of finishing/sealing a 'deal' is very much satisfying, which was unthinkable some decades ago.
Now we need to see how the bulk payment thing can be speeded up further, though the SWIFT (S.W.I.F.T. SCRL, Avenue Adèle 1, B-1310 La Hulpe, Belgium) has made payment procedure very fast. It takes about two to three days even through SWIFT for getting our payment for export sales as well as remittance for imports.
I think there exists a big opportunity to bypass the behemoth Banking syndicates who are taking fees for their services but making one after another obstacles in the way of transactions. I know that due to Money laundering and bad payments by Buyers the banks are not very easy to do away with. However, this Banking concept for international trading needs a very finer scrutiny and some alternate and secured way of transactions of payments made over say $10,000 and within $100,000 may be looked into which would definitely be web-based application for the reason of speed!
Btw, About SWIFT
SWIFT is the industry-owned co-operative supplying secure, standardized messaging services and interface software to over 8,100 financial institutions in 208 countries and territories. SWIFT members include banks, broker-dealers and investment managers. The broader SWIFT community also encompasses corporates as well as market infrastructures in payments, securities, treasury and trade.

I don't think we've seen the full potential of social networking yet, so I think it is still becoming the next big thing. I am interesting in a couple of new Yahoo products that seem to have some potential. There are lots of rumors about Mosh, which something will replace 360. I also just notice Jumpcut and that looks pretty interesting.
Personally, I think something like Second Life and other avatar-based role playing games are the next big thing.

Youtbue, myspace and facebook are not big things. They're dumb little social activities. In otherwords those were big things for the social world. A big thing for the internet would be something like the introduction of IPv6 which will allow enough IP adresses to last us a long time!

I have yet to find it but a good website to listen to music. Any song that i hear on the radio that is good enough for me to listen again i go to YouTube to find them. I listen to them on YouTube because it is easy to use, very reliable and ALWAYS has the song i am looking for. The only problem with that is i don't watch the video i just listen to the music and streaming the video cuts my FPS in half when playing a game or something. So i guess for me the "next big thing" on the web for me will be the web company(Yahoo, Google, Msn ect.) to come up with a quality, reliable streaming music player that will have any and every song that i want to listen too available =D.

Call it "snobware". Basically, for a *more* than modest fee, some people--mainly rich ones who can't be bothered to read little things like *Rules* and *Terms of Service*--will be able to use a software suite that renders *all* of their online profiles Private and Inaccessible. It will start in places like Yahoo Answers, wherein Those Trolls Who Are Public Figures will *demand* Private Profiles that "mere peon" ordinary users cannot fully see and gather information about....or gain access to said Public Figure's Questions and Answers, in the event that said Public Figure gets people *outraged* by being a Troll, or just plain rude and mean.
Because God Forbid if us Ordinary "mere peons" were to Report a Public Figure en masse for being a jerk, oh heavens no. -_-
Pardon my heavy sarcasm here...I digress.
Point is, eventually the internet *will* be divided, and Yahoo will be at the forefront of it. People who can *pay* a large enough fee will basically be free to Troll, Flame, Harrass and Insult others to their heart's content, and never again have to worry about anyone holding them accountable to the Rules that *the rest of us* have to obey on threat of account removal or worse. I'm serious. It's already started on Answers, people with Private Accounts already *act as if* they are Above the Law here, as if nobody can stop them from being rude, mean, and psycho for no reason.
And you know what? In terms of us Ordinary Users, they're right. Yahoo protects them....from Yahoo's *own* rules, from their own TOS, and from any *rightful* action other users might take.
And this is how the *whole entire internet* will be inside of five years. People with Snobware who can hide themselves from the masses will be total jerks with *total impunity*, and the rest of us will suffer for it because the Rules will get more and more severe and meaningless in response.
Bet on it. Snobware will be the next big thing. Rich people will pay for it, and no lawyer in his right mind will sue people like Yahoo Inc. for offering it and screwing over their non-wealthy user-base in the process.
Thanks for your time. -_-

Hi,
Whatever it is, I can guarantee I'll be a good few years behind it all. I've just recently been introduced to YA and only this week have got into understanding Blogs. It's all happenning too quickly for some of us. But I'll try to keep up and I'll catch up with you all in the end.

With the amount of money flowing into the porno industry, some porn empire must have a research and development department. In a year or two, you'll probably be able to get a Jenna Jaimison hologram beamed into your hotel room through a USB port on a laptop. That's why I'm buying one of those multi-port USB hubs now, while they're still cheap.

TV on demand. A website where I can go to where I can find any episode of any show and I can watch it whenever I want. Something like YouTube but with every single show in DVD-quality (and also not split in parts like they are at YouTube).
You'd most likely have to pay a fee for it but it would be well worth it.
It could also work with movies.
