If people hate people just based solely on skin color or race... then yes then that is unquestionably racism. But, if it is more or less a difference in style, opinion, music, language... all cultural differences and that is purely it, then is that really racism? Also if that is the case, then aren't we all a little bit racist with regards to other cultures?

I think it depends on the person. For some its about skin color, but for most I think its a cultural clash.

Religion is now becoming more as the cause.
Iranian are Kaukasian and or Arians I believe, they are the whites and may even "whiter" than some of the whites.
Racist against Islam these days is the most popular issue.

Racist based on skin colour because African was brought in as slaves to the US, although the people who migrated to US at the first time were "slaves" of the aristocrates in their country of origin.

Racist to brown colors were started basically by jealousy.
The men were in love or having affairs with the natives, they came w/o wives or family at first, only after the colony was settled, families came and found out. So basically it was the white wives gang together against the natives females as well as some natives males gang together as their women rather chose the colonials.

Very soon, racist against Chinese will be very popular. With this globalization, lots of people will hate Chinese.
Their cheap stuffs kill almost any industry anywhere this days.
It is a bit better, since lots of countries banned Chinese cosmetics and medicines or food stuffs.
Problem with Chinese is their business attitudes. No morals, they like bribing, they cheat at least that what happens in most Asian countries. And .....they smuggle anything they can.
I'm not sure but I heard, that they believe : If they are poor in this earth they will be poor after death. So becoming rich or piling wealth is a must.

Racism is like nose or a**, everybody has got one.
Iam only pointing the big ones. But as you say, we all are a little bit racist.

Inside a country with so many different culture or background there are racist.
Even inside a family sometimes you find it too.

In the US it's definitely skin color. After hundreds of years being here black people, for example share the same culture and traditions, as white folks, while some also embrace the Mother Land's, styles, holidays and what not.
People cop an attitude just at the sight of a different skin color, they stereo type and profile, and the police do it just as much as anyone else. I don't believe we are all a little racist at all. I believe we are all defensive about our races but not racist. Unfortunately we have to walk around with our antennas up 24/7, and question things because of the rampant, uncontrolled racism.
Have a great day.

Racism is about race prejudice and power. All of us have prejudices, based on skin color and lots of other things. Racism is about exercising power to deny people equal rights or to dismiss them, or their culture. Racism in the U.S. is a systemic problem that still influences our society, even though advances have been made legally. So, when white Americans assume their culture is the norm, and eveyone else's is "foreign," that easily moves from prejudice to racism, because most people in power are white males.

Those are two separate things. Colorism is a form of black-on-black racism, based on skin-tone, exemplified in terms such as "high yellow" as well as the "brown paper bag test". Whereas racism is is a form of discrimination based on race, especially the belief that one race is superior to another.

Skin colour. I see European foreigners escape scrutiny all the time while dark-skinned people are targeted, whether they are foreigners or not. People think they can pick out other cultures based on looks alone, and often treat others poorly based in this assumption.

It's culture, but it's also attitude. Different cultures don't matter unless one thinks it's intrinsically better than the other. Even worse than that is when one believes in something the other finds inherently evil or immoral. Add a combination of these and you have TROUBLE.

It is actually about power and economics. I'm afraid skin color is just an external sign for other assumptions.
