I've been sleeping with 3 pillows for as long as I can remember and I have never had a problem with my neck.

I sleep on a mattress...but i rest my head on about 6.
4 of which stay on the bed and 2 get thrown off during the night! I cant sleep with only 1 or 2 it gives me a neck ache and keeps me awake.
In total I have about 10 pillows on my bed.
