I'm a minor with ADD. For the past several weeks (almost a month) I couldn't sleep.I live near the freeway and many cars past by my house at night . I once switched bedrooms with my sibilings and slept well in her room. She didn't have any problems in my room except it was quite hot.
I tried everything my doctor recomended me and what I could think of ,but so far none could help me. Here's what I tried:
-warm milk
-spraying lavender on my pillow
-reading a book
-avoiding caffine, computers, and TV
-sleeping (or attempting to ) at 10:30
-clean room
-turn on radio
-earplugs and eyepatch
-fan

Try a muscle relaxation at bedtime. It's when you tighten your muscles one section at a time.
When you are lying in your bed.. squeeze your toes for like 10 seconds and release. Then picture all the stress and worries leaving your body. Do the same thing with your legs, butt, abdominal muscles , back arms, and face.. then do your whole body. You should be completely realxed. Also it helps to be in a completely dark room. You can also try ocean sounds, it's very soothing.
