Speaking as a member of the much maligned "media".... I get sick and tired of everybody always blaming we in the media for all of the ills in the world.
To be perfectly honest, a significant number of people in the viewing, or listening public are going to complain about anything they see weather it is the truth, or total fiction.
To be honest I just work for a regional media outlet, not a national one. We do not have as much influence as the big guys, I guess that is why I get such a bug up my a$$ whenever we are all painted with the same wide brush. Contrary to popular belief, we are not all just sitting around in some underground bunker giggling, and planning the total takeover of the planet. We simply report the news, we do not fabricate stories to influence an agenda.... We simply tell you whats going on! I know not all news organizations are the same.... There may be some bad apples out there, but as they used to say in the good old days.... One bad apple does not spoil the entire bunch.... That still holds true with today's media.

Maybe it comes with age but...
I see more and more people absolutely BELIEVING everything they see and hear on the six o'clock news.
From politics to local events everything reported by the media is taken as Gods own truth and the truth be damned!
Until more people become cynical enough to question the motives behind the way news items are reported and by whom, rest assured that every topic from Wall street to religious activities 'facts' will be altered to hide an activist or special interest agenda.
Read between the lines, don't be brainwashed.

Not me I must say. I watch the TV media mainly for entertainment value. Usually they're pretty funny and obviously slanted to the left or right. News papers are a joke. written by junior high school english drop outs who can't spell or string together a coherent sentence.
