Global warming has a variety of contexts. It is just as the name suggest, the warming of the planet's temperature. It is a very scientific phenomena and scientists have not conclusively determined if the phenomena is permanent (meaning the temperature will continue to rise), or how it might be caused.
You will hear story after story of how global warming is harmful and that human beings are the cause. You will also hear of ways that you can stop it. Nothing in science has concluded that either is possible.
The biggest problem with global warming is that the issue has been taken out of the scientific arena and placed in the political. It seems that if you are part of one political party, you believe it and if you're part of another political party, you are skeptical. The thing is, global warming is a scientific phenomina, not a political issue. Unfortunately, most people tend to agree or disagree along political lines and not from a factual basis.
Be aware of it, but also be aware of how long our earth has existed and the cycles it has gone through over millions of years (warming & cooling, etc); know too that our earth produces many of the "greenhouse gases" that have been blamed for global warming.
Study the issue, but for every story you find supporting man-made global warming, know that there are stories that discredit it. Also know that because it has become a political issue, there may be distorted versions of the "truth" out there. Approach it scientifically and without emotion. It's the best way to know the facts, and ultimately, the truth.
Good luck.

The ozone layer, a boundary around our atmosphere, has been deteriorating. This will let the sun's harmful rays into our atmosphere. The ozone layer has been absorbing most of the heat from the sun. With it damaged, the sun's heat can easily enter our planet in much more concentrated areas. This will cause the polar ice caps to melt, driving species to extinction that live on those and also destroying homes too close to the coastline. The deterioration is caused by greenhouse gases given off by pollution. So far, we've repaired the hole pretty well, but we still have to stop polluting to keep our planet safe.

Global warming simply means that the earth is getting warmer. The actual cause is not known -- there are only theories. Unfortunately, many people equate the term global warming with the theory that it is caused by greenhouse gases. Many other people, myself included, believe that it is a naturally ocurring phenomenon, like when the ice age ended. I do believe that pollution may contribute to the problem and that we should be working to reduce it, but I have not been shown any proof that it is the sole cause.

It is a political stunt to make people think that we do more damage to the earth than natural disasters such as volcano erruptions and the like. The world evolves and will keep revolving. If you look at dated maps you will see how land surface has changed. This is a cycle that will not stop no matter what politician says. Polutants both man made and earths wear our ozone layers thin which effects heat from the sun onto our planet. Even a degree or 2 change can have extreme effects on the earth. If our polor ice caps melt or shifts it will cause oceans to rise and land masses will change. Our world is not going to die over it. Our worlds land exposure will change. People who say we can stop it make me laugh. Nature is bigger than us and our world will continue to evolve with or with out us.

It's a bullshit theory that the original creator of now admits is false, but many people still believe it. The theory states that the World is steadily warming and that our Children's Children will be engulf in flames equal to that of the sun. Most go as far as to say we're the sole cause of this so-called 'Global Warming' and that we have to do something to stop it (which coincidently coincides with the Liberal campaign).

Solar activity is causing earth to warm and it's being misrepresented as the fault of man. The polar ice caps on mars are melting too, so assuming man is to blame for global warming, our SUVs are powerful enough to pollute a planet millions of miles away....

It is GLOBAL warming. It means that all over the globe, the world is slowly becoming warmer and warmer due to the defective ozone layer. We are causing holes in the ozone layer by using aerosol products and belching exhaust into the environment. The warmer environment is causing upset in the environment by melting ice caps, etc.

It's a natural phenomenon that happens on a cyclical basis. It's nothing we can cause to happen or keep from happening.
