the eye, or the palm (5 fingers) in my culture (i'm egyptian) are symbols that are supposed to keep the bad eye away, meaning they protect their holder from envious people, those who emit negative vibes out of hatred, jealousy etc...

i wish it was that easy :)

It's always been my understanding and belief that the Eye of Ra is a protection symbol; certainly nothing to do with bad luck.

The Eye of Ra is a symbol of the eternal light. The Egyptians believed that humans were created from the tears of the eye of Ra, therefore it is connected to the soul. The eye was believed to be the window of the soul. People were called the cattle of Ra. In the same way the Christians were later compared to Gods flock.
This light is both the creative and destructive form of life. Ra was the Sun God that both created life and created the desert. He was the all powerful god of Egyptology.
As with any other diety he had a duality. Not in the Christian sense of good and evil, but in the sense of nature where it is necessary to have life and death to perpetuate rebirth. In this way life is eternal.

.Hi! the eye symbol of Ra brings good luck, it is said that if you look into the eye with a pure heat for 10 minutes you will have good luck for a month!

P.S. the Eye of Ra is a symbol to keep people away from evil, & to keep the yin and yang inside them in harmony.

Hi, The Eye of Ra, is used to protect the wearer, as is The Eye of Horus. Have either, have both and another good one is the Ankh. Whatever you go for, it would be best if you did your research before hand, so that the end result has meaning for you. May the healing wings of Isis protect, enfold and enlighten you. Bright Blessings.

It has been used as a protection symbol for thousands of years. I don't know where he got his "bad luck" theory from.
