I'm still in 8th grade. I'm thinking about buying a new computer because my old one is getting really out of date. Should I buy a Desktop? Laptop? or PC? MAC? I'm ok up to around 3000 cuz I've been saving so much money for this.

Everything depends on use. If you are going for music and graphics, go with an Apple product. If general computing, music, school work go with PC type because of software availability. The laptops on the market today are really good as far as prices. Might want to upgrade memory to at least 2G with Vista home premium. $1200 will get you a nice 17 inch screen, 120G drive, DVD burner and 3D video. Most good laptops are comparable to desktops in today's market. Go to major retailers and shop. You will find some unadvertised special that will blow your mind. Take the time to check makers web sites for ideas as well. If ou go laptop, consider size, weight and get the extended warranty just in case.

well it depends what do u usually use it for. Working for school or entertainment like games, movies, pics, ect. I have a Hp Pavilion DV6139US with Intel centrino duo mobile technology, with 100gb hard drive, light scribe, with vista installed, and equipped with web cam and mic. Its a laptop that is color black and siver with a touch system control for sound. I usually use it for entertainment and school work which is great if you love Microsoft word 2007, (i recommend office student 2007 for you for $150 to type up amazing documents/ Projects.) also if ur a entertainment person get some speakers for amozing sound. You can get any Vesion of the Pavilions, this version that i have is in the dv6000 series. theres alos a dv9000series as well and i think more. Oh yeah just to say i know this, im heading to the 8th grade!

You should probably buy a Mac, since they can run both Windows and Mac.

As to desktop vs laptop:
desktops are faster and more expandable,
laptops are slower, but you can take them with you.
If you are into games, a desktop would be better.
Laptops also tend to get stolen frequently.

It all depends on which is more important to you.

If I had 3000 to spend in a computer I would go for a Sony laptop without a second thougt. It is the best value for your long term investment. If you don't like Sony go for some other top brand. For that money you can really buy a top of the line computer enough for any task.

I laptop would probably be the best so that when you go to college you can use it for reasearch in the class

Dell has very good high quality laptops and PCs. That would probably be the best brand to buy because the laptops have wifi and bluetooth wireless communications.

The best laptop from the Dell brand would be the XPS

get an apple macbook pro 17". macs don't get viruses or any of the bad stuff pc's are plagued with. u can also run windows on it. the mbp has a dedicated graphics card so u can play games on it. although windows fanboys will disagree with me, a mac is the best choice now that it can run windows.
