Because 9 months prior you weren't even classified as a person according to the law.
From your BIRTH, the moment you survived on your own outside of the womb, is the start of your life as a person. Conception is the beginning of the division of cells.

Probably because few people know exactly which day their child was conceived. All they know for sure is when the baby pops out. It is an interesting point, because some Astrologers believe that the point of conception is the more important date as babies can be born prematurely, which would alter the time between conception and birth to make it potentially shorter than 9 months, or longer if the baby is born late. Whatever, it is obvious that the original Astrologers (observers of people and their habits in relation to when they were born) selected the Zodiac Signs to fit when babies were born at the end of the normal 9 month gestation period. This would possibly explain why the Astro Charts of some people do not appear to fit their characteristics, in particular where babies are born prematurely or late, thereby missing the normally expected 9 month gestation period.

'Cause when you're born you are normally fully capable of living in the world because you can breathe and everything. But you can't in the womb. In there your organs grow and everything. That's why. Besides, maybe the mother and father don't know which night the child was concieved and that makes it kinda hard to calculate the babys age.

The scientific belief is that life begins at the moment of conception, and the religious belief seems to corroborate that. However, age (not life) begins at the moment of birth to exactly one year later, when the baby is said to be a year old. All successive years are calculated from the day of birth. I doubt if that will ever change, but if it does -- good grief, that would make everyone at least a year older if age begins nine months prior to birth. And wouldn't it be strange to say for example, "I'm 15 and nine months" Or "I'm 62 and nine months." Not only would it sound wierd, but you could also construe that to mean that you're 15 and only three months shy of your 16th birthday. See how confusing that would be? So age calculations do have rhyme and reason. Now, are you bored or confused, or both????

I suppose it is because that is the day you actually became an independent human being, breathing for yourself for the first time rather than relying on your mother's lungs to breathe for you.
Edit: The exact date of conception is not hard to figure out...if you have fertility treatment. It is exact, down to the very minute almost.

When your in the womb and your still attached to your mother your not born yet. Life technically doesn't start until your "out and detached."

Think about it: Exact date of conception is hard to figure out, if not impossible. The date you were born on is obvious.
