I think a lot of those shows just exploit the poor people who agree to be on them.
Some shows like Dr.Phil, and Dr Keith, seem to try and give some assistance, but there's no way anyone could be cured in 10-12 minute segments or during commercial breaks.
Maybe speaking about a problem like that, helps to get the dialog going, its like thinking a loud.
You can really see thru someone else's eyes or you get a fresh perspective on your situation from others.

No way! People only go onto the shows for attention and to be on tv. On the shows all they ever do is shout at eachother, so surely that can't help resolve their problems!!! There just attention seekers, and want to be noticed, thats my verdict!! Good luck finding your right answer!! :)

I think it *could* but it's no guarantee.
I don't like Jerry Springer, or Divorce Court
But, I think the results of Oprah or Dr. Phil, even some like Maury.....are evident.
Some of it's real, some of it's not.

god no. talk shows are an hour of trumped up entertainment at the expense of people's personal problems. i can't see how they help in the least.
