How do I tune a acoustic guitar...or play an acoustic guitar in the key of F?

Download a guitar tuner from www.download.com
and tune your guitar using your pc's microphone.

What do you mean you want to play the Guitar in the F key.

Playing in any key generally doesn't require necessarily to tune your guitar differently or use a capo or something.
Standart tuning is enough for the guitar.

But yes if you want to simplify some parts of solo and progression, and not bothered for the key, you can detune your guitar.

In such case atleast specify man.

Put a capo on the 1st fret. Play chords as written but they will be 1/2 step higher.

E will now be F
D will now be Eb/D#
G will now be Ab/G#
etc.

I would not recommend tuning the strings tighter, as the E1 and B2 strings will probably break, or if your bridge is glued on with cheap glue, it might pop off.

You can always learn the barre chords.

if its going to be in the key of F, simply bring up all the strings in standard tuning (A 440) a half step up and you will have F tunning. when you play an E major chord you will actually have an F major chord. or use a capo in the first fret.
