Unfortunately, for the ill advised civilian that will need to make the decision - YES - he is a perfect example.

95% of the people who vote - do so based on name recognition only. The media has been building Thompson up big time to get his name out there. People see him from TV and think what they see on TV is real. People read about him in the newspaper and believe what they read. Of course - most of what they see and read is garbage - but thats what most americans want to believe in.

Anyone who knows anything about government and the way it is SUPPOSED to work will realize that the ONLY valid candidate amoungst all the parties at this time - is none other then Ron Paul. The biggest problem is those people are only the 5% not counted in the previous paragraphs.

The lack of coverage on Ron Paul is even a better example of how the mass media will try to down play a legitimate candidate in favor of the garbage candidates. If the media would give as much coberage to Paul as they do to the other candidates Ron would be having a landslide victory.

Fred Thompson is the best candidate out there right now. Hands down. Not only the media, but the American public has picked up on him. He will make a fine President.

Yes, but to be fair, I think in many ways Barack Obama is a good example of this too. I like Obama, but it seems to me that many who don't know much about him seem to WANT to like him because he's a smart and good-looking black man. Just as Thompson seems to fit the plainspoken, authoritative, paternalist image of the Reagan years.

No, I honestly don't think so. He is highly intelligent and people have seen him in action, even though he is an actor. He knows how to discipline himself and react to every situation. I think he really is the ideal candidate and has potential to be an incredible president. I don't know of any controversy surrounding him. Reagan was also an actor and many people highly regard him as one of the best presidents.

Yes, but he won't win once the people see his choice of a wife. The pictures of him and her on their wedding day look like father and daughter.

Nope - he has been out there for quite a while as a possibility. The media has not picked him - he has not even announced yet.
