When he was writing his good stuff (pre-1991), he was a raging alcoholic who put his worst nightmares on paper.
Since rehab, he's been an average writer of soppy trash.

Wouldn't call him genius liked his earlier work but since he had his accident he seems to have lost the plot his The Dark Tower started off as a great read and wound up as a dissappointment at the end of the last book thought the end was a total cop out, seemed like a really lazy way to end the series of books.
