Im 31 weeks pregnant with my first I have no signs of going into labor anytime soon. My pregnancy has been going well for the most part. But my friend just had her baby at 26 weeks her son is so sick and is going to have to stay in the hospital she had a really ruff pregnancy. I was wondering for first time moms what are your stories on your first..did you go early..on time..late...how was the experience?

By and far most first time moms go late, in their 40th week or better.

I was 2 days shy of my due date.

I was 2 weeks late and was having contractions from my due date all the way untill I was induced. Over all I was impressed with the Navy hospital and they really made it a good experience. I was able to get my epidural about a hr after they started the pitocin (could have sooner but I wanted to do it with out) I ended up having a emergency csection due to my daughter not handling contractions very well. I have heard of people having great experiences and I have heard people have horrible. I am able to take anything that happens and make it atleast a okay experience. Just relax and enjoy being pregnant.

Personally my son was delivered 2 days before his due date. LOL his labor was complicated but I think that was my own fault since I swore to the doctor there was no way I was going to be pregnant or in the hospital on thanksgiving day. I got my way but it was rough going. His water broke with no contractions so I got induced. NOT fun!
Do your best to be supportive of your friend right now she's in one heck of a miserable situation right now. Most babies that are born early for no known reason are attributed to an incompetant cervix. If you are seriously worried about this for your baby then at your next appointment bring it up to your doctor and he can check your cervix to see if it's opening too early. It isn't commmon. good luck!

My water broke on the first day of week 39. However, I did not deliver until 3 days later. My uterus would not cooperate and my contractions were not consistent at all even after pitocin. I did manage to have a vaginal delivery, but I was pretty close to a c-section. Labor was very long and I pushed for 2 hours, but I got my beautiful son at the end of it :)

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Good luck & congratulations!!!

With my son, I went into labor at 28 weeks and 3 days pregnant due to a really nasty urinary tract infection. They were able to stop my labor at that time and I was able to make it to 37 weeks. He was 8 lb. 7 oz. and healthy. This pregnancy I'm at 34 weeks and 5 days. No real major issues, another uti but they caught it early, before it started me in labor. I wish you luck and I hope you can make it to term!!

I was 1 day shy of 39 weeks. My water never broke, I didn't lose my mucous plug beforehand (the DR pulled it out when I was 10 centimeters), and I didn't have a bloody show. It was a great experience. I would do it again in a heartbeat! It's the newborn period that's hard! :)

My water broke on it's own with my son at 37 weeks. Then I was induced the same day and had him 8 hours later. Good Luck!

39th week with 1st child water broke at midnight and I didn't deliver until 6:30 PM
42 1/2 weeks with 2nd (no kidding and yes we had the date right) and that was after being induced at 5:30 am and still not delivering until 10:00 pm
41 weeks with 3rd. lost mucus plug at 2:am delievered at 9;30 pm the next day.
So 1st kids are NOT always late, and those after are NOT early or easier!
I always joked I was meant to get pregnant and carry them, just not deliver them!

I went at 38 weeks with both of my kids. I guess I take after my maternal grandma, she had 5 kids and they all came between 2 and 4 weeks early.
