Our air conditiner broke this summer, so I'll tell you what I do.... sit here & sweat!! it's nasty, I know - luckily, just the other day we bought 2 window air conditioners & we have a few fans running in the house which keeps it somewhat decent.
but boy do I miss central air.... and I live in SW Pennsylvania

I'm going with no a/c this year.
I know this is gonna sound whack, but, I live in Arizona. Yes! you read it right AZ-hot as blazes and July & August bring monsoons. I am struggleing to make ends meet at this time and decided against turning on the a/c. My home has both a/c and swamp cooler (evap). I am using the cooler and have several fans. I try to work indoors as much as possible, but on a day that I am outdoors working, I come home take a cool shower and just lay down in front of the fan, usually pass out. It may sound rough, but I do save a lot of money on my power bill, which would be triple if i used my a/c.

I confess that if I didn't have a/c in my truck I would surely perish, cuz I love driving around chillin. I have a tank of freon on hand to be sure I can keep a cool ride.

I have to have AC. I live in Ontario, Canada.
I live in an apartment above some stores. The building is over a hundred years old. It doesn't have insulation and it's brick with a steel flat roof. With 2 ACs going most of the time, it's about 78F in here. I don't think I would survive without it. Got to keep the cats cool as well.

I have AC. I live in Wisconsin, so technically I only need the AC 4-5 months (max) out of the year..
I might be able to go without it, but i dont want to. it gets ugly humid here in the summer and AC is soooo refreshing.
PLUS, my dad owns a heating and air conditioning company.
it'd be silly for us NOT to have it.

I live in Tennesse and I can't imagine a payoff worthy of me even considering going without AC for a year.

I live in NY - just a tiny bit north of NYC.

I've spent many years without benefit of AC. And, I wouldn't do it again!

Unless there's money involved, but it would have to be a very large sum of money... A VERY large sum...
