I am going into grade 9.
How many GB should it have.
Should it be a Mac?
I will be using it for school for projects, and I would like to be able to use disks and go on the internet.

You must spend your money for the best brand.

As I know HP and Dell are the best in laptops for a long time and they are very reliable too. I trusted HP and I bought a HP laptop 2 years before, and still like the day I bought it. Didn't even have to service it at least once up to now.

I recommend you to buy a HP (with experience) or Dell laptop.

On www.hp.com you can even customize your laptop. And also you can check the price.

i recommend the least expensive basic laptop you find - especially check the back-to-school sales. my reasoning behind this is any basic laptop will offer the portability you seem to want, and will allow you to burn CDs, surf the Net, and use it for school projects.

Check with your school to see if they offer discounts on software - you'll be surprised how much software can cost! (most laptops will have Microsoft works installed, which will allow basic prodcesses). You can also buy software used on ebay.

Macs are really expensive, so I'd avoid that at your age - as your coursework increases in amount and complexity, you might want a totally different kind of computer! Buying cheap now might make it easier for you to buy another one in 2 or so years.

Unless you take a LOT of digital pics and videos, a basic 60GB hard drive will be sufficient for your needs. If you want to play a lot of games on the computer, then your needs are totally different. You'll need more RAM (processing memory), and a faster processor, and maybe even a bigger HD to load games onto.

yes u should get a mac. they don't get viruses or other bad stuf pc's are plagued with. macs are not that much more than a similar configured windows laptop. a macbook can also run windows. the base configuration of the macbook will suit ur needs.
