I think the fact that some of Americans think that 9/11 was our own government's fault makes us look weak. The life or death of one man pales in comparison to the fact that our country can't even agree that it was him who killed our 3000 brothers and sisters.

I don't think so... we look crazy though and obsessive to a world that is mostly used to some form of terrorism. I mean two full scale wars (and I know Iraq was not linked to 9/11 but come on would we have gone to Iraq if 9/11 didn't happen?) for 3000 people and 6 years later there has been more than 50,000+ innocents dead as a result? This is even forgetting the destroyed infrastructure of Iraq and the mass emigration of a predominantly lower middle class population. If you think about it from that perspective you might think it is insane too... especially when we havn't seen any real progress there.

I think the overall military response in Iraq clearly indicated the U.S. was not playing with a full deck when "fighting terrorism"; the problem is NOBODY can define terrorism.
Can you? I can't either...
The U.S. has a two fold policy that is DISTRUCTIVE to the U.S.
One, we alone define "terrorist" as those whom bomb and kill innocents for political gain; I trust intelligent readers will see ALL WARS do this and "TERRORIST" are a lable we use for a weak attempt at political gain.
Second is the U.S. Refuses, by Policy, not to Negotiate with "terrorist" and therefore, how can one "end a war" without a negotiated truce?
Do we think all the disgruntled Arabs can be caught when we can't even find one guy, Bin Laden? These people have been fighjting this war for a milinia before the U.S. was a concept...they are like the energizer bunny...
Now, purhaps we can see how this war on terrorism will not end by U.S. demands and the U.S. wuill actually have to negotiate with the enemy, see what thier grevances are and deal with it fairly.
Catching Bin Laden is a Political Feather in the cap of any slap happy President and has no military significance, at all.
Bin Laden can be replaced by any number of people whom are as sharp as he ever was. Don't doubt it.

The ones who look weak are Haliburton, Bechtel, Ratheon, SAIC, Dyncorp, Blackwater, Lockheed Martin, Carlyle Group with all that $$$ spent on Holographic Weapon mil-spec iPod technology we sould be able to see the heat signature of Bin Laden's dialysis machine from a 1000 yards above his cave!?!
If we really wanted to "fight terror" and show our intention we should have:
Seized all assets connected to the Bin Ladens in US banks and stock market.
Seize control of the Carlyle Group from all Bin Laden family interests.
Put the CIA agents on trial that met with Osama Bin Laden in the Pakistan hospital to "question him"during his dialisis treatment while on the FBI Top 10 list for the bombing of the USS Cole.
NOT try every way possible to sell our ports to the Arabs.
There are really only 2 types of politicans the ones that want to destroy America and set up a One World Govt and the ones who are speaking out against it and defending the Constitution!

I believe the US does look weak. The US also looks revengeful, not because of the actions against Afghanistan, but because we attacked Iraq with no premise, no actual reason other than Dubya's fixation on killing Saddam.

No...i dont think we look weak to anyone. Days after 9/11 the military was bombing al qaeda. We acted fast and i think other countries saw that. Plus the war in iraq. Iraqis did nothing to us but we kicked their *** anyway.....Other countries know we are in a shoot 1st ask questions later mode.

Yes, and also looks weak when we change any law or right or give absolute power to a leader over the people in the name of terrorist. Why should we change anything for those terrorist bastards. "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself" FDR
