No people will think he is a gay lord.

I do not. I live in Clear Lake, Wis., home of Earth Day Founder Gaylord Nelson... and our elementary school is called Gaylord A. Nelson Educational Center. People have made fun of me for just *going* there, let alone if that was my name... do you want people to ask your son if he's the 'lord of the gays'? Don't do this to your kid.

Usually I don't worry about what kids are going to say at school about a different or unusual name, but Gaylord is not a good name.... What if the kid's not overly boyish? If he's too meek and quiet that's just cruel. That one would give me pause... actually it would just stop me in my tracks...

I hear that names - and I think of Meet the Parents/Meet the Fockers - and in the movies - his name was a joke.

Don't do it to your child. When naming a child, you always want to take into consoderation what evil names other children can come up with. Children are down right mean when it comes to name calling!

surely that could be a real call. And gay surely would not recommend gay. Or a minimum of it did no longer. It meant satisfied, extreme satisfied like giddy. So relatively the call potential the lord or chief of the satisfied. it is of previous French foundation and the respected which potential is lively or extreme-lively. in case you relatively like the call yet want a diverse spelling you are able to circulate with Gaillard. i in my opinion would in no way use it, despite if that could be a astonishing call. the whole call is nice too.

please dont' do that to your kid. I grew up with a guy named Gaylord and he was picked on relentlessley. The only nickname to Gaylord is Gay and that's just as bad, if not worse than the original name.

As much as I admired Gaylord Nelson, I would have to say it's probably not a good idea now.

Even though people are bashing the name, I would still use the name if it meant that much to me. Maybe it could be a middle name.

Good luck.

It might have been okay back when your ancestors were living but that would be an awful thing to do to a child. The child has to live his ENTIRE life with the name you choose! Remember that!

Do you want your child to be called gaylord?

Would YOU want to be called gaylord?

Would you want your child growing up in a world with a name that has sooo many bad points?

I think if you really looked inside yourself you'd find the answer we all have.
