What position would be best for a boy playing his first year of junior high football - and is probably the shortest on his team? He is of average strength (stocky build 4'10", 110 lbs) and average-slower speed, but new to the game. He is also not very agressive.

I actually was about the same size, although maybe a little faster, and I found it comfortable to play safety. You get a hands-on approach to the game, without as much physical contact as a lineman or linebacker.

You don't have to be huge to play middle linebacker in junior football. You just have to be smart and read the plays as they develop. If a boy is small, smart, and reasonably athletic, that's the place to put him. He might get big and become a star.

maybe quarterback....its middle school so not many kids will be bigger except linemen that have played before. he could play RB (like with size, speed wont be much of a factor). he could really play anything except line and maybe linebacker.

Possibly Fullback if he can bulk up, but most likely Strong Safety.

He could be Tight end at best but mainly a SAFETY.

Tell him to go out for the team, try hard, and the coach will put him where he needs to be.
