just in case the person I asked to water the plants forgets.
The plants are on the terrace and it usually gets up to around 30°c...... how does the bottle trick work?
Small hole in the lid ? big hole ?, cut the bottom off the bottle ? leave the bottle closed ? Please help as I'm off tommorow at 7am .... thanks

If they are house plants, put some water in the bath (not too much) and stand them in shallow water in the bath. This is what I do when I go away.

This is an easy way to water your plants and it will continue watering for a few days. Simply cut the bottom off the water bottle. Take the lid off as well. Then push the lid end, (Spout) quite far into the soil and simply fill up the bottle.

I kept tomato plants going like that for over a week in the Spanish heat, direct sun.

Plus check out this website with lots of other things to do with water bottles.

you fill a plastic 2 litre or 1 litre with water, put a hole with a nail in the screw on lid. quickly flip the bottle upside down and partly bury the bottle so that the cap is in the ground and only releasing a drip at a time. hint- put it near the roots. ;)

my mum was a real plant junkie and would never trust anyone to come in and water them,so she would put the plug in the bath, lay a few towels in it then about half inch of news papers on them, fill the bath so that the water was an inch above the papers bung all her plants in and then we could get off to the seaside,as soon as she was home she would check on her babies, have you got a big bath

Hi, I'm answering from germany, so
put the house plants into the bath tub, which is filled with water.
the plants will have enough water for approximate 8-10 days.

Sorry for my bad english - hope I could help.

You can buy attachments that fit on the bottle. That is the only way I know how to make them work.
