The reason you get them is you either need more calcium or potassium. Try eating foods with them or taking a supplement. Also, drink more water. For immediate relief, the best thing is stretching your calf muscles. However, don't point your toes away from you to stretch, pull them towards the front of your leg. They say sleeping on your side helps this, too, but I never found that to be helpful. Hope this helps!!

Try doing leg calve stretches against a wall before bed.Flex your foot back and forth several times also. I have this problem too and I am 19 weeks along. Also at night in bed if you flex you foot straight like you are standing it will help eliminate the pain too. Hope this helps you is does me.

When I use to get them I would get up and stretch my legs, sometimes it would help and sometimes not. Maybe try some Bengay or Tigerbalm, it might help with a nice massage.

It would be a few matters...A) your potassium stage is low. Have you eaten any bananas in recent times? B) You would have Restless Leg Syndrome C) You would have a blood clot... After you devour a couple of bananas, pass on your health care provider if the suffering maintains up. You'll want medication for something instead of low potassium phases.

Your getting charie horses, try drinking more water and also sleep with a pillow between your legs. The best way to get rid of a charlie horse is to stand up and try to walk it out.

According to the information they gave me at the OB it says you can take OSCAl or a similar calcium product for leg cramps. I haven't tried any yet to know if it helps.

Before I got pregnant I would feel it coming on and just stretch out my leg and it would go away but since pregnancy that just doesnt work....so now as soon as I feel it coming on I get up and stand on my feet - this elimates any pain...Luckily as my pregnancy goes on they have stopped.

quick way to get rid of them is to grab your foot and pull it up towards your leg, it stretches the calf muscle out. I figured that out when i was little :) now its a life savor at night :)

Stretching should provide immediate relief - hang in there. I know how painful they can be.
Long term relief - you need more potassium. If your doctor won't allow you to add a potassium suppliment (make sure you ask) then just eat more bannanas.
