I really enjoyed the "Left Behind Series". It is basically a Christian view of the end of the world. Very exhilarating.

So far my favorite is "Where The Heart Is"- By: Billie Letts. It was the only book on my summer reading list (for 11 grade) that sounded appealing. Billie Lett's writing (especially in this book) revolves around the heartland of America. It is a very down-to-earth novel yet at the same time it's very deep and moving. I thought, being that it was suggested for school, that it was gunna be some immature, low-grade, emo story about the trials and tribulations of teenagers, but it turned out to be much more than I expected. Even though I haven't exactly gone through what the main character has been through in this book I can relate to it on some level. In a way it is almost enlightening. Even though the main character goes through some hard times, you wish you could have experienced them yourself. Younger kids might not understand the book entirely so if I had to give this novel an age rating I'd say it's about 16-up. Definitely a must read. I've been trying to get into "Shoot The Moon", another one of Billie Lett's novels, but I've been interrupted by the release of the last Harry Potter book. So far it's really good.

I am an avid reader and reading is part of my nightly routine.I am 53 and I can't recall a time when I did not take a book to bed with me.Thats alot of books!Your question is not an easy one for me as the choices are so vast.
I loved Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden. The book is lovely .One really feels transported to the time of the novel.and you feel as if you are actually reading a diary. The culture of Japan is so engaging and the style of the memoir is almost poetic.I have read it atleast 3 times.I have never read anything by this author before or since. However I do tend to gravitate to authors I have read more than once.
How about you? Your favorite and why.Fun question!

This may sound silly coming from a 60-year-old, but I do think I have enjoyed the Harry Potter series better than anything else I have read. "Lord of the Rings" was more literary, no doubt, but for sheer pleasure of reading, and for the complexity of plot within what were supposedly children's books (at least the first few), the Potter series is completely unique.
My English professors would be completely mortified if they saw this answer! LOL
