just when you think you've figured them out, a baby will do the complete opposite. he's probably just growing and needs more to eat. if you think he's just drinking to fall asleep, he may need a pacifier. sucking is a natural need in newborns. the pacifier won't hurt him so don't be afraid of it.

I was told to nurse untill they quit eating.. Try to keep him stimulated and awake during feeding time, and a little more during the day.. I know its hard to do, but a few minutes here and a few minutes there add up throughout the day, and could result in a better nights rest for both you and the baby.. However if he is really overdoing it with the eating talk to his doctor and see what they recommend.. My daughters doctor had me put in a table spoon of cereal for every 2 ozs. of milk she was drinking, I did and it worked.. Talk to the doctor and see what he/she recommends.. Just dont go ahead and do anything without his/her consent.. Congratulations and Best of Luck...

he is starting to stay awake longer. He might just have his days and nights mixed up, mine did. Try holding him longer and if you use a nuk give him that after feeding him.
