survival (in this context) is avoiding getting killed. to live is to not be dead. to survive is to live.
it's a matter of individual perception whether each individual's life is more about living enough to come to the next instance where survival comes into question, or whether it's a constant struggle for survival(to stay alive).

Living IS surviving. The organism is programmed to survive and does so naturally as a part of its living cycle. When you touch a hot burner the organism pulls back without the participation of that thing you call 'you'. The organism will continue to do that until it cannot.

Our bodies, our brains, even our minds, live based on a need to survive. Our spirit has a choice. When we get connected to our spiritual being, we can change how we percieve the nature of life, through our thoughts.

Some live to survive, others survive to live.

Some, those who survive to live, stand for a moment, just for a meditative moment, and stare at their own horizon in the hope of gaining force to move more towards it, in the hope of being allowed to move towards it, in the hope of getting near, in the hope of getting more of its glow, in the hope of earning unto themselves the title of Columbus' sons,

others live to survive in the existential prison of their life, quarreling for petty scopes for petty needs, not even knowing how limited, how blunt their own perspectives are.

Some live to survive. Others do survive to live, a fiercy survival on the path to a more glowing life.
