Hollywood nonsense from a very boring baseball movie called Field of Dreams, starring Kevin Costner, Amy (who's she) Madigan, James Earl Jones, Burt Lancaster (old poop) and Ray Liotta. It was released by Universal studios in 1999.
People acted like it was the be all end all of wonderful films that supposedly, "moved audiences like no other film of its generation." So says the VHS blurb on the box. I would have rather watched paint dry. I would have gotten more whimsical, intellectual and spiritual stimulation from that than watching this highly predictable and silly movie. Story of "Shoeless Joe" Jackson a cheat (a'la Pete Rose) from the annals of baseball history. B O O R R R I NG!
Edit: I hate it when people tell the entire plot of a film like some of the posters did here. If you had wanted to see it my answer wouldn't have spoiled it for you. At least no more than it was spoiled when it came out the can. Bunch of "EBERTS" the lot of them! LOL!

It's from the film, Field of Dreams. The voice told Kevin Costner's character to build a baseball field in his cornfield so that the ghost of his dead father and some famous baseball players would come and play a game of baseball in it. He listened to the voice, even though everyone thought he was crazy, but people did come and they watched the baseball and I bet he made a mint. He also got to meet his Dad again, one more time. It's a lovely film.

It also has links to an English phrase about building a better mousetrap. If you build a better mousetrap, people will beat a path to your door. Hope this helps.

it's from the book and movie "field of dreams" literally it meant if the main character builds the ball park the 1918 white sox, and then his father would come, but it's come to mean if you build the right something you will attract people. like the old saying where to catch mice you build a better mouse trap. or, if you want to draw people's attention give them something they can't resist.
