I just read through your other questions and I know that you have a goldfish
What is a goldfish doing in a 2.5 gallon tank?
You need to buy him at least a 10 gallon tank for starters, otherwise you will stunt his growth
As for a 2.5 gallon tank, yes you can buy a filter, but only a betta is going to be happy in there

Hope that helps
Good luck

Well, I wasn't going to add an answer, but if what Evelyn says is correct, i.e., you have a goldy in that tiny tank, you have a huge problem. Not only is it bad to have a goldfish in anything less than a 10 gallon aquarium, because of goldfishes' internal organ structure, they produce more waste than any other fish and need a filter more than any other fish. The size of the tank and the size of the filter are both aspects of the goldfish's organ structure. But, you need more than just a regular filter. Goldfish require a filter that pumps 10 times the water per hour as the size of the tank. So, if you have a 2.5 gallon tank, god forbid, you need a 25 gph filter. But!, as previously said, you must get yourself a 10 gallon tank ASAP with a 100 gph filter or this fish won't be long for this world. And be prepared that, once the goldy reaches 4 inches in length, you will need to invest in a 20 gallon tank.

You can find a mini HOB (hangs on back) filter at most pet stores that will work for that tank.

Having said that, there are very few fish that can live and be even remotely happy in a 2.5 gallon tank. A betta is the only one I can think of offhand, and the water movement from the filter might bother him.

What kind of fish do you have in there?

I have a 1.5 gallon and I use a filter. It is a cute little tiny filter. It is the Red Sea nano. It filters aquariums up to 5 gallons.

A 3-I Whisper filter might suit your tank.

Yes, you can buy a filter to put inside your tank. They sell them at your local pet store. Buy a Tertra Whisper filter as a preferred choice.

Your pal replaced into staggering to cycle his tank, and assuming he did it properly it did no longer make contributions to his fish's dying. cycling the tank first components a fit environment for the fish and makes the water high quality much less complicated to maintain. Hardy fish like bettas can survive in an uncycled tank. at last the fish itself will supply the ammonia necessary to start up the cycle. in case you and your pal offered infant bettas, then this is fabulous fortune of the draw in the event that they survive or no longer. Many die for no glaring reason even in suitable circumstances. He could desire to purchase an older fish next time.
