I loved writing poetry all my life, but for the past few years I could only think about writing music. After many of my teachers and friends said that I had awesome poetry that could make good lyrics, I would always have these dreams about being in a band. I think that I'm a good singer, I might get singing lessons to help train my voice before I get out of highschool. Theres this program in my school where guitar players, vocalists, bassists, and drummers can all make music together. I'm hoping that one of them will be intertested in working with me, my vision for our music is kind of like Evanescence/Within Temptation/Lacuna Coil. I even have an album invisioned in my head right now. What are my chances for success? And I mean success as in earning a living off of what I love doing, not getting famous.

Your chances are probably 50/50. If you can write good songs, you'd probably have a better chance of sucess in songwriting rather than performing. Diane Warren is a good case in point. Who is she, you ask? She's written some of the most well-known songs in history. Google her to see some of them. The other reality is - there's WAY more money in publishing (meaning holding the copyright to the songs) than there is in performing them. If you hold the copyright to a song, anyone who uses it, even a part of it, has to pay you and give you credit for it.
Good luck. If you're dedicated, talented, and follow your dreams you will get somewhere.

Go for it. You won't know unless you try.
Singing lessons would be an awesome idea. And now's the best time to start while you're living with your folks and don't have other expenses to worry about.
You're still sooo young, so your chances of honing what you've got and becoming an awesome artist with fans and paying gigs is really high. But to be honest, music is a heinously competitive industry, and chances of earing a living solely on music are low. A number of my friends have groups that tour and play festivals and get radio airtime and all that good stuff, but they still have to work day jobs. They have a blast though, so it's nothing to complain about. You'll have plenty of time to feel it out and figure out where you fall. If you love it though, go for it!

It depends on how you define success. If you get a sense of fulfillment out of playing a good show, selling out a club, selling copies of your demo, getting a record deal, going on tour with Evanescence, etc., that will determine your success. Step #1: find other artists to work with. It sounds like you're driven enough that you'll find fulfillment throughout the process, and that's a good sign that you won't give up, which will increase your chances for 'major' success. Good luck!

Evanescence rocks. If you think that your music is anything like Evanescence's, go ahead. I'd probably want to hear it myself, especially the lyrics.
But becoming famous takes a lot of dedication and determination. If you think you can do that, then you might have something.

I'm so sorry, but you have very little chances to make it big. However, if you find a good talent agent (which good ones cannot be found on the internet such as One Source Talent) and they recommend you to record companies, then your chances will get better and better.
Also, a resume will help tremendously.
