I clean it with vinegar and baking soda about once a month. I fill the soap dispenser with baking soda and put a cup of vinegar in the bottom, run it on the longest cycle and air dry. I find that soap scum accumulates on the walls of mine and greasey food particles on the bottom filter. Besides, the instructions in the manual suggest doing this monthly for best performance. I also keep the rinse dispenser filled with Rinse Aid to keep the mineral deposits from accumulating on glassware.

I always use jet dry and have had better luck with liquid as opposed to powder - I think it does make a difference with age. Another thing that I do is clean the dishwasher about once a month or so. Usually run it on a short cycle, empty, with a little bleach or the Dishwasher Majic. They both clean the dishwasher. I prefer the bleach because it not only sterilizes it, but it also is good for the drains on getting rid of built on food residue.
I can always tell when it needs to be done because it just does not seem to clean as well and I start to get that white milky residue off.

Ok, I read all the answers and here's what I do about once a month.. .I run an empty cycle with sweetened/unsweeted drink mix.. It can be kool-aid, tang, lemonade whatever.. Just fill the detergent tubs and run it on empty... Depending on how dirty the dishwasher is you may have to do this acouple times.. The citric acid in the drink mix cleans out the mineral deposits and it will also make your dishwasher smell nice and fresh.. It's also cheaper then using Jet-Dry... I also use Electrosol Tabs with the Jet-Dry powerball and have had no problem... Good luck..

Last week we bought some of the little Cascade 2 in 1 Action Packs, they are little square things with both liquid and powder detergent. It not only got my dishes WAY cleaner, it also cleaned out the dishwasher. I will never use anything else.

I fill a bowl with vinegar and run the dish washer.
Use a bowl that will sit flat.
You can do this several times.
Then take the racks out and lift the wands out.
There is probably some kind of screen type thing that collects small pieces of food particles.
Give the inside of your dish washer a good cleaning.
Put it back together and you should be good to go for a few months.

Stick with good powder detergent. Dishwasher repairman told us, don't use the liquids.
