I don't for everything, but always do for certain items. Milk, eggs and bread are the main things.

I always look for an expiration date on everything except produce. And I always "dig" into the backs of shelves to find the dates that are furthest away from the present date.

i usually do for dairy products primarily because i've gotten screwed a few times with yogurt and cheese that had still been on the shelf several days past expiration. one time i went to this kolache shop off campus and bought a bordens chocolate milk. i opened it and took a gulp and it smelled exactly like a barn- hay and manure- it's freakin disgusting. i looked at the exp and it was something like 3 weeks past its expiration. i went back to the shop and got a new one and noticed that a lot of the other bottles in the cooler were also expired. it was totally gross.

I try to look at expiration dates on most things, like the ones you suggested. I have a new thing however, I look to see where certain food products come from. If they come from China, i will not buy them.

I do ever since my ex (when we were together) brought home milk that was over a week past its due date.

YUCK!

He had to walk back to the store and get another one.

I do for milk and bread and sometimes lunch meat (turkey, chicken, bologna not bought in the deli), but other than that, no.
