ah, well, and that's just what they lost. You do remember that a month ago they were arming Sunni militants. Is anybody listening? The US wants war in the Middle East... not peace!!!
If there is war they stay and steal oil... if there is peace they are going to have to fight to stay. The US wants mayhem and death and the American people support the government because they do not protest.

Most of the weapons that are unaccounted for are those that were donated with serial numbers not on the military rolls or showed up not in working order and are in the process of being salvaged so, if the insurgents got some of them, they are probably blowing their own heads off.
Yes, some were just lost, stolen or misappropriated. If our own troops see one laying around, they will "misappropriate" it, if you know what I mean?
What would be an acceptable shrinkage number for that? To expect that none would fall into that category in a combat zone is just naive.
It always happens.
Let me see the analysis that shows this to be and unreasonable amount and we'll talk some more.
Until then I wouldn't worry too much about the impact.
The flow of free weapons from Iran and Russia is such that trying to steal pistols and M16's from American depots is not a risk they are going to take.
What for? All they have to do is call up Ahm-inna-dinnah-jacket and they can have all they want.
Remember, you can use NATO ammo (5.56mm) in an AK47 (7.62mm) but not the other way around.
Is there ammo missing too?

i might choose to ascertain if GW Bush turns a blind eye in this one. for an prolonged time, Bush were accusing Iran for arming the Iraqi insurgents. Now Bush's very own inner maximum military (Blackwater) is being investigated for hands dealing to the Iraqi insurgents. the yankee conflict in Iraq is now beginning off to tutor its real hues. it is not a conflict for freedom, democracy, and against terrorism as they claimed. it is a conflict to make earnings.

I would have to believe that some of them are indeed doing so. Odd how they went missing when the good General Pertraus was in charge of handing them out to the Iraqi Security Forces he was allegedly training and now we are just waiting for his evaluation of the situation in September?
Makes a person go Hmmmm.....?

It has been reported in the US media.
I don't know where they are but I assume they are not aiding us! Perhaps many have been destroyed! I don't know. We have a longstanding issue with corporate fraud and the military not being able to secure weapons!
Handing out equipment to Iraq's security forces is like handing them out to the enemy! Many are like the South Vietnamese, in the afternoon they would be cutting your hair, the next morning you would find them on the wire around US area's!

Hey our troops could have used some of that body armor. The deal is we are giving weapons to keep the Iraqis killing each other so that we can focus on guarding our new oil acquisitions.

Who knows where those weapons went? Or where the pallets of cash went. Just another fine example of this administration's complete inability to manage this war.

Actually, it's about 50%.
There's about 190,000 weapons, guns which are "unaccounted for" during 2004, 2005 in Iraq which were supposed to be for the Iraqi police force.
I heard it on the radio during lunch.
WAY TO GO, GEORGE.

Most of the insurgent weapons come from China and are routed through Syria and Iran.
