Riddle me this;

The non-smokers want the fresh air
The freshest air is obviously outside
Therefore the sensible law should have banished the non-smokers to the outside so that they may enjoy that fresh air which they so earnestly desire, whilst the smokers enjoy the fug inside. Everybody is then happy

One thing at a time! You have a point, and we can keep on voting for politicians who will press for car emissions to be radically cut, and for research to be funded to develop new, cleaner fuels. But given the way society runs these days, we can't just cut out car use altogether, overnight, can we? Whereas we CAN cut out smoking indoors in public places, without having any adverse effect on anything (except maybe some multinationals and their shareholders, who feed off other people's addictions.) Even the smokers will benefit along with rest of us, from the sweeter air inside pubs etc when smoking in them is banned, because no amount of extraction ever really gets rid of the fumes. A lot has been said about smoking being OK out-of-doors. In fact, there's something about cigarette smoke that catches your throat and eyes even outside - and I don't suffer from asthma. So please can we have No Smoking areas outside! At least until smoking eventually drops off, when smokers begin to appreciate sweeter air again and realise what they have been missing. By-the-way: I put a question on here as to whether people would go to pubs MORE when the smoking ban starts. And the answer was generally yes.

That is the best and most down-to-earth and right on post I think I've ever seen on here. You are 100% absolutely right. I'm a non-smoker, but even I can see that it's been crazy how they're putting more and more restrictions on people. I especially think banning smoking in bars is ridiculous as well. People go there to sort of do bad things, right? like drink alcohol, be sexy, hang loose a little, and some people like to smoke cigarettes. I just wish the do-gooders of the world would stop all their repressive attitudes. Maybe they just need a good time or something.

I see cafes in town with tables outside doing more trade now so people can sit outside and have a cigarette. Meanwhile all those non smokers now have to walk through the clouds of smoke to enter the cafe where they can now enjoy their smoke free enviroment. Despite getting an overdose of it whilst entering the cafe in the first place.

Not really because as they are smoking outside the door when it opens the air pushes the smoke back inside so why smoke outside stay inside and smoke do yopu agree?

Cute riddle! Non smokers are now in a majority and in the end will win out. I quit 5 years ago after smoking for 38 years. Hardest thing I have ever done. I feel everyone is making a moutain out of a molehill as far as the smoking issue goes.
