A while back, this check fell head over heels in love with me. But I was only mildly interested in her. She told me she loved me but I didn't want to hurt her and ended up saying I loved her too.

No, It is not a word I take lightly.
And it has led to some heated arguments when it involves teenagers at my school who run around saying' We're in love... Love forever... ' and all that when they only have been dating 3 days. Or just say they do because they screw each others brains out worse than rabbits..

Love, people. Is something you respect.
Stop using it as a mask for lust.
And to teens.
If you love someone, make sure its for the right reasons.

yeah I've done it...it sucks, He told me he loved me about 2 weeks into our relationship, I grew to love him eventually but that's not how it's supposed to work.
When I broke up with him, I told him that I didn't love him anymore. I broke up with him on christmas too. yeah yeah I'm horrible.
I never say it unless I mean it now. My hubby told me before I loved him back, and I told him that I liked him a lot but I wasn't ready to tell him that I loved him, I told him my reasoning and he was fine with it, I told him the truth about a month later. I love him and I always will.

I was in the same exact situation. But why should we say we love them and hurt them even more and lie and say we love them. 2 in 1 is too harsh. I can't so that anymore.

Nope I never have. It's just something I would never say if I didn't mean it. I once broke up with a guy I didn't love becuz he wanted me to say it and I just couldn't. It felt wrong to becuz I knew deep down inside that I didn't love him.

No, I never....In the future take a page from my history...When someone you do not love says I love you look them straight in the eyes and say, "Thank you."

Yes... and that relationship did not end to well I might add. Love is a strong word, watch who you say it to.

you probably hurt her more than you would have if you had just been honest. i hope anyone who reads this question and is thinking about doing the same thing will realize you have to be cruel to be kind!
