You need to cycle your tank first and you can do that with a couple of zebra danios, here is a link that discribes it in detail
http://www.firsttankguide.net/cycle.php...

You will know when your tank is cycled when your ammonia levels and nitrite levels are at "0", when they are you can start slowly adding fish, but not to many at one time, max. of 6 at a time, and always wait at least 1 week to add more

Hope that helps
good luck

properly, wash the tank first, rinse o.k. so no cleansing soap is left interior the tank. you could upload the water and use a chemical which you will get on the shop the place you purchase your fish ( it helps do away with the chlorine from the water) or you could placed the water in the tank and enable it sit down over night uncovered so as that the chlorine evaporates. upload the pebbles and plant life or regardless of decorations you intend on including. Oh yeah, earlier you upload the water placed the decorations and the clear out (while you're employing a backside clear out) in the tank then the water, and so on. once you're waiting to characteristic the fish, depart them in the bag they got here in and set it in the water so the water in the bag turns into the comparable temp. simply by fact the water in the tank, that way you will not marvel the fish. After a whilst ( say approximately 10-quarter-hour) you could launch the fish. i comprehend this could be an prolonged answer, yet i choose you and your fish to have an prolonged and satisfied time at the same time. sturdy success... fish are astounding to visual demonstrate unit and espresso maintenance (smile).

You should fill the tank first, let the water get to the temp that you need. When you buy the fish, leave them in the bag, and put the bag into the water to bring them to the temp. You don't want to put them in right away, it will shock them. After about 30 mins, you can put the fish in the tank.
