i work at a local nursing home as a housekeeper.our administrative staff is so rude, along with the rest of the staff.they expect us to do work that is not in our job description...for example ,picking up trash that they throw down on purpose, leaving bm diapers in the floor, and saying things like,"Oh thats ok ,the housekeeper will get it"we already do part of the cna's job, also patient escort, and make sure they are turned every few hours.reporting abuse and neglect, falls.and are expected to clean up spills that the cna's do or it will be there all day.we get treated like we are no one,but can you imagine what the place would look like if not for us.our job is as important as theirs, why do they look down on us.

I'm not a housekeeper, but I agree that you do deserve respect. As I always say, every staff member is a link in a chain. If one link is missing or broken the chain isn't good enough and is pretty useless. You are just as important as other staff at the nursing home! Too bad that some of the other staff there doesn't seem to realize that. Maybe you could have a word with a supervisor about that or even talk to those assholes yourself and remind them of what the place would be like if you weren't there?

I hope things will get better.

I worked as a housekeeper in a nursing home and as a CNA. Neither job gained me much respect, truth be told, and the administration acted like we were their personal slaves. If they have you turning residents (and doing other patient care) you should turn them in to the state. it sounds like that nursing home should be shut down. Not that housekeepers are any less intelligent than the aides, you are not certified to do this, and it is illegal. Also, if you hurt yourself doing it, they won't pay comp because it's not part of your job, and YOU may even get into trouble. You think they're going to admit that they asked you to do this?

Having worked in the past in nursing home I agree with you. These places make millions a year even a small crummy one makes a mill a year and they pay way to little treat most help even CNA's like they are underclassed citizens. It is hard to keep good help Bless you for going to work everyday. They have a high turn over rate due to their treatment of the help.

I agree!!! Most of you people do a wonderful service to the folks in nursing homes. Some tend to remember only the bad they hear about attendants. You are a great blessing to the seniors and othes that can not do for thelselves. If those that complain, would work in your shoes for a month or two, their attitudes would be a lot different. Thank you for all you do.

You go girl ! I work at a hospital in housekeeping and I hate the phrase "That's ok housekeeping will get it". Do you think people are that nasty at home. I really hate full cups of liquid in the garbage leaking all over the place. Can we say duh! Housekeeping is a huge role in keeping patients disease free and healthy. And the other employees too.

would not sound such as you're working at a very extreme-high quality place. in my opinion, i'm very grateful for persons such as you.........my Dad is in a nursing living house and properly dealt with and properly cared for while i'm no longer there. there is not any cost to be positioned on peace of techniques. in keeping with risk you may desire to look at diverse facilites or a diverse area to paintings! sturdy luck!
