Because word hasn't spread in the UK yet how horrible Orlando has gotten. Our I-drive area is like a buffet to criminals now, they know everyone there is from out of town and won't be here to show up at a trial later. There was a news story today about the police catching two guys who were grabbing tourists and taking them back to a hotel room and robbing them.. when the police followed them back the hotel room was PACKED with tourist and another thug was guarding the door. If we can't get the crime problem under control the Brits will start going somewhere else.. the other Disney parks are WAY nicer than orlandos anyway.

This is a very good question. It is not a "redneck" thing, but a simple observation. When I was living in the UK and was looking to do some travel in Europe, I noticed a lot of advertisement for travel to the USA at the travel agents. Specifically packages for Orlando (DisneyWorld and Universal Studios) and New York City. So the first part to your answer is because it's heavily advertised. Secondly, it's surprisingly cheap. As much as it would cost them to spend a week in Spain or France or anywhere else in Europe, it's cheaper for them to fly all the way to the Orlando, Florida for a week or two. The only thing that really begins to level out their expenses of a European trip vs. Orlando would be the cost of Disney. So with some ingenious bargain hunting, the some Brits (especially those with kids) would probably have a more kid-friendly vacation for a week or two come out being more wallet friendly.
As for why they come to New York...shopping. The cost of things in the UK are quite expensive at times. If an item at the GAP in the US was $25, then it's be 25 GBP in the UK. So with the conversion, it's like paying half price for them when they come to "America".

All of the Orlando theme parks advertise in the UK, and Florida is a top travel destination for Brits overall.

Why?
Because Brits LOVE Orlando. Thats why. They travel there alot. Just like Americans like going to Rome or Mexico.

It's because of the exchange rate. The UK pound is way up over the dollar. They are travelling here because it's a steal.

It's because the kids have now broke up for their summer holidays - and no we don't have anything that compares with the variety of the Orlando area in Britain
the harrier - that was a bit of a generalisation - we also get sick of loud, brash Americans in our quaint, otherwise quiet, country villages

I would like to know the same thing. Years ago when I honeymooned with my wife at DisneyWorld, the place was packed with Britons. They were very rude, trying to cut in line wherever there was a line.
