Have experienced it twice, both whilst travelling at about 50-60 MPH.
Have laid under it and looked for any play in the prop shaft and universal joint, checked my donut and sliding joint but can not see anything obvious.
No loss of braking/steering or handling and disappears as mysteriously as it appears!
It only lasts a few seconds, but is really really violent juddering!
Any fellow 4x4 or Landy fans got any ideas?
Thanks!

The whole cars shakes like an earth quake!
Every inch of the car, it is hard to say front back or whatever, comes on bulds up really strong then fades all in the space of say 5 or 6 seconds.
Have taken my local mechanic out 3 times and it won't do it for him!

If it happens for just a few seconds while you are travelling at a constant speed, then it's nothing to do with balancing of wheels of propshafts.

It's more likely to be some problem inside the transmission, and intermittent seizure of some idling (not driving) part.

I once had a transmission in which the "low" gear was intermittently welding itself to the thrust washer while I drove in "High" gear.

It went away, but boy was there a mess when I stripped the transmission down (new gear, new shaft, new thrust washer, new bearings).

At this component the shop doing the artwork expects to locate the gasket between the cylinder head and block to be leaking. If finished appropriate the cylinder head could be checked for absolute flatness and no remember if that's not flat it could desire to be machined somewhat to benefit flatness lower back earlier changing the pinnacle gasket and torquing down the cylinder head. while the cylinder head is off the block they could or won't detect that there may be a crack interior a combustion chamber between an intake and exhaust valve. if that's the case you would be wanting a alternative cylinder head. If I have been you i could pass right down to the broker and have the provider supervisor actual tutor you the place the problem is so which you will of course comprehend the priority to hand. do not proceed to be at night. enable them to tutor and clarify issues to maintain you recommended. enable me say this lots: simply by fact that Ford has taken over you're saddled with engines with basically 4 bolts around each and each cylinder. Chevrolet on the different hand has 5 bolts for plenty extra effectual even distribution of clamping forces of the cylinder head, head gasket and block.

Hi

Although this could be a problem with the transfer box, it sounds more like a violent misfire.

Is this the TD5 engine?

Cheers

i think it might be your front swivel pre loads, this would account for the intermittent nature,as it would only occur when you hit certain bumps in the road.
