I love Ava Luella for a girl & Syler Riordan for a boy or possibly Ryder but no clue for a middle. I'm not too fond of the common names and the too unique, we have a huge family and most of the names have be taken. I'm up for any opinions!

Ava is the fifth most popular girl's name for the past few years (www.ssa.gov). Unless you don't mind a popular name, steer clear.

You could simply reverse the name- Luella Ava. That's pretty.

Syler Riordan is reallllly Gaelic sounding. Syler is dfferent, but reminds me of "Silo" or "Silage" on a farm.... I like Ryder. So how about Ryder Becan (also gaelic)?

Now back to the girl... Ava means "voice" in Afghanistan... Aria, Bethany, Carmen, Carolina, Chantelle, Karriann, Kalliope, Linnette, Marinna, Melody, Ranata, Serah, Shara, Sharon... all mean "voice or song."

Personally, I don't care for Ava and Luella together because of the rhyming factor. Ava is a beautiful name but it is HUGE these days and she'll be one of 5 in her class.

Syler Riordan? Never heard of either and I don't care for them at all, honestly. Also the ending in R and beginning in R makes for mumbling and a slur between names. Ryder is better, but I still don't like Syler for a first name and obviously that is a major rhyme thing again. How about Kyler for a first name? Kyler Reece or Kyler Dallas, etc.

I like Ava for a girl. Luella is not a name I would use, but it sounds fine with Ava. Ava is very common though, so if you don't want a common name you should rethink using it. Maybe Eva or Eve instead? I love Riordan, and think it would make a great first name, although it is likely to be mispronounced. Sorry, but Ryder is horrible (think moving trucks, and Ride her). I don't really like Syler, but I love Skyler. Or what about Silas or Cyrus instead?

I like Ava, but it is used a bit much. I'm not fond of Luella at all -- maybe Lucinda?

You also said you don't want anything too unique, but Syler Riordan sounds a bit over the top. I do like Sy as a nickname though. (Maybe Cyrus or Simon?)

I think Ava is a wonderful name. It's timeless. Even though it's a very popular name right now, it is a name that would be cute for a child, and a professional name for an adult. I like the name Syler for a boy. I'm not sure about the middle name, I have never heard of it before. However, if its a name that means something special to you, then you should stick with it. After all, there was something that drew you to that name.

Ava Luella is cute, but Syler Riordan sounds like a Scandinavian wrestler or action figure. Ryder sort of sounds like a cowboy or snowboarder or something, and is the perfect chance for kids to make fun of your child [like 'ride her' or something].

YOU might not like conventional names, but think about how your child might feel when he/she is an adult, and unique names aren't so cute anymore.

I like Ava Luella, but don't get too creative with your kids' names.

Ava is really pretty but I would go with Ryder before Syler. It just sounds too different for my taste. How about Ryder Xavier?

i have to tell you that ava is the name we want for our little girl if we get one and even though it has become quite common her middle name makes it different i totally understand what you mean by "tooo unique" names i think you should go for Ava as for Syler i have never heard of it so that is a really good one
