They have more to be open minded about.

I don't think seeking to set one group of people up as superior to another is open minded...I think it is the opposite.

So the answer to your question if you are representative is....
They're not.

Well done. You have just generated more bigotry and distrust for the people you allege you represent.

In terms of political and social policy, LGBT folk DO tend to be more liberal or libertarian but this might just be because the right are more phobic towards people who are different. I have met lesbians who are anti-male, gay men who despise women, transsexual women who cannot tolerate transvestites and gay folk who are openly hostile to straight people, so whilst overall they might be more liberally minded, whether they are open minded is a moot point.

Often LGBT people become entrenched in their own ghettos of geographical and philosophical dimensions and can then become highly partisan, narrow minded and even express bigoted and discriminatory views far beyond anything a straight person can even imagine.

Clearly to be obviously gay or trans you have had to address the issue of yourself a lot more than those who are more conventional and who want to follow the herd. Sheep are uniformly bland because they are herd animals. So on the face of it, yes LGBT folk can and DO think more, but there is no assurance that their thought processes are always based upon fact as opposed to irrational supposition.

I personally attach no significance to sexual orientation. A few people I know have introduced themselves to me by telling me they are gay. I have never felt the need to announce I was straight. (Apart from just then, obviously) However, I have a friend who would be described as a lesbian. She has told me she knows other lesbians who are masculine in appearance who try to start fights with straight men. She has also had experience of being barred from a gay club because they only allowed gay men in there. Open mindedness just doesn't come into it. We all form peer groups. Like calls to like. The struggle is to get along with each other, something which is rarely achievable even in a community like this one.

LGBT are more 'open minded' than the 'straights' of this world, because they have to 'live in an alternative world' where many see the 'behavior' they have as being 'abnormal' or even 'sinful' ... when you are 'discriminated against' for something that is 'born into you' (I did research on 50 different 'animal species' including fish and birds, and they ALL had exactly the same 'percentage' of homosexual behavior as the 'humans' in the Kinsey Report, which 'proves' it's a 'born in' trait, not a 'human choice') you tend to be more 'open minded' about everything ... and isn't THAT an 'interesting statistic.'

Well, because they go through way more than an average straight person.
Depends tho, your right it is stereotyping, like I'm not open-minded to the idea of being "promiscuous" or "experementing with drugs" and things like that...so yeah...
There is straight open-minded people but usually more LGBT people are because their life experiences kinda forced them to see things colourful rather then just black and white... :)

I don't necessarily think members of the LGBTQ community are more open-minded. The stereotype of the open-minded part may be an attribute to the coming-out process the our ability to adapt to the changing environment. This community is a very diverse one and we also have some rather opinionated individuals (namely yours truly). It is a very interesting frame of mind to be classified as being open-minded just because I am gay. Thanks for asking!

My sexuality has no longer something to do with my open-mindedness. i understand that for a actuality. I additionally strongly have faith (although i'm no longer able to communicate for others) that their sexuality has no longer something to do with their open-mindedness. Lot's of issues play into who you will improve as much as be. The morals you have been taught as a toddler, you outer impacts, and so on. no longer basically that, yet infants are clever. they think of for themselves, yet an outstanding style of the time are compelled to maintain quiet, to no longer disrespect authority (their father and mom). If there is stress with that, they'd improve up in yet in a distinctive way. i do no longer decide for to bypass into toddler progression. LOL Too messy. Sexuality although, has no longer something to do with that. I already knew i could love everybody inspite of gender. My father and mom by no ability pronounced something approximately being gay or right this moment...by no ability reported sexuality. according to risk it incredibly is why? i do no longer understand. in basic terms considering you could love one intercourse over the different, would not make you greater open minded. To me, it incredibly is lack of information. an outstanding style of the dislike that exists at present is by technique of end lack of information. Yeah I do sense that some members of the LGBT community place way too lots magnitude of their sexuality. i like everybody. specific, it incredibly is area of who i'm, yet it isn't the only element approximately me. i'm greater desirable than in basic terms who i like. yet many can no longer see previous that. it incredibly is somewhat unlucky. damn it, why do I communicate lots? =P

Wrong. Wrong Wrong!

I have seen more bigotry perpetrated against 'gay' people by those who are supposed to be of their own sort.

I have heard more backbiting and backstabbing of these individuals against those who are supposed to be their 'brothers'.

We are all individuals. And the day everyone takes responsibility for their OWN actions is the day we might just start to get along nicely.

Thank you.

cos we get that much crap from certain people we tend to go behind the logic and think why they are so biased, then we try to think logically bout how we can update folks views in the nicest possible way without them getting all aggro bout stuff, doesnt often work but at the end of it we are here and staying put so say all you like cos we really dont care. best way to try explain that but well, deaf ears methinks

Only some are, I know gay men who are as racist and sexist and ant-semitic as any ignorant straight person. That being said, many of us are quite open minded. If you are part of an oppressed minority, you know how horrible being closed-minded is.
