Has anyone out there who suffered from horrible nausea during pregnancy ever taken vitamin B6? If so did it work for you? I called my OB doc today to see if he could do something about my nausea in hopes to get Phenargren but they told me to go to walmart and get vitamin b6 and try it first. My nausea is so bad that i cant even take care of my own 1 year old son cause i dont even want to get out of bed and my husband is deployed. Please tell me if it works!! Thanks

Im hoping that it works. I dont think i have 2 weeks to wait for them to start working. My nausea and vomiting are so severe its to the point where ive thought of not being pregnant anymore and it sucks. I know that nausea is a part of pregnancy and i just sound like im whining but when you have a child to take care of alone and you dont even want to it becomes a problem.

Yes, it works wonderfully. But you have to take it three times a day (25ml) at the SAME three times EVERY DAY, even when you feel fine. It takes about 2 weeks to kick in fully.

I took those for the first 4-5 months before i didnt need them anymore.

Medications for nausea, even the ones approved for pregnancy cause horrible birth defects and complications in more children than they should. Its just not worth it to take them to feel better.

No one knows for sure how vitamin B6 (also known as pyridoxine) relieves queasiness. It helps the body metabolise certain amino acids (proteins), which may somehow reduce nausea. Doctors first used vitamin B6 in the 1940s to relieve morning sickness during early pregnancy. Do talk to your midwife or doctor about how much to take and when to take it. It doesn't work for all women, though, so I'm glad it does for your wife. Vitamin B6 is also important because it strengthens the immune system, aids nerve impulse transmission, assists with energy metabolism, and synthesises red blood cells.

There is some evidence that taking a supplement of Vitamin B6 times per does reduce symptoms in some women with severe pregnancy nausea, although it does not reduce episodes of vomiting. However, the Food Standards Agency in the UK recommends that no more than 10mg of B6 should be taken each day as a supplement. This is very different to the situation in the USA where supplements providing 100mg/day are easily available.
