Most coin dealers have a world coin box with inexpensive world coins. You can also get a copy of Numismatic News a weekly coin paper from a local dealer and look in the world coin section for people selling coins or even by them bulk by the pound. See if there is a coin club in your area and ask there members for help. Also check out yard sales and flea markets. Watch the flea markets though for you don't want to pay too much for a common coin. If it is a 5-25 cents okay. Hope this points you in the right direction.

I started collecting common coins about 2 years ago, and have found a great resource in ebay. Expensive coins can be found there too, but I stick with the every-day type coins from other countries. Have coins from 200 different countries so far.

Every coin dealer and coin auctioneer has plenty of foreign coins they will sell you. I would guess on any online auction site you can find bags of mix foreign coins selling at or below face value. If they the coins have any silver content you will have to pay going silver prices otherwise common foreign coins are easy to come by.

Go to your local bookstore and look in the magazine section for one published for coin collectors. Inside, there will be several advertisements for foreign coin sales.
If you are interested in minors (non silver or gold), they will sell them to you by the pound.

Try your bank. They can acquire any country's currency for you (for a nominal fee, of course).
