I am a big fan of Laurell K. Hamilton, Lynn Viehl, J.R. Ward, Sherrilyn Kenyon and many others. I am interested in finding a book with the dark fantasy set in the future. I am also a writer and I want to compare ideas. I realize that the authors I mentioned are women, but I am not bias so please list male authors and I don't care if the genre is romance, sci-fi, fantasy etc.

Do I have a great award winning sci-fi/fantasy author for you!

Try the Xenogenesis trilogy by Octavia E. butler.

Octavia has won both Hugo and Nebula awards for her work. She also was the first sci-fi/fantasy writer to receive MacArthur Foundation "Genius" Grant.

Try reading the books by Peter K. Hamilton. They are 'hard science fiction' and not 'fantasy' but they are excellent books if you 'like the dark future' in writing. I lost my purse one day, and was more worried about th Peter K. Hamilton book in it than about the money or my I.D. I got the purse back on Monday (I lost it on Friday) but had already replaced the book ... it was THAT GOOD!
