The difference is utilitarian thinking versus natural rights.
The idea in utilitarianism is that the best solution is that which provides the most benefit to the greatest number of people, and the problem is how to quantify benefit.
Suppose a doctor saves a million lives by experimenting on and dissecting 100 people...
