In general they are 1/4-20 bolts (and will fit inside a1/4" hole in the crib). Depending on how far they need to go through the parts you are joining they could be about 2 inches long and will usually have a rounded head.

If you are going to a mall for that Home Depot anyway, see if there is a baby furniture place near it where you could ask a salesman for info (or at least look over the bolts on the cribs there).

if you can take a tape measure the inside diameter of the hole it will get you pretty close but most cribs take a 5/8 screw and nut or a 3/8. so buy each size and return the ones you dont need or use them for something else there cheap enough. but my guess will be 5/8. good luck

General tools sells a guage, that has holes on one side, and teeth on the other. First, find the shaft thickness. Second, find the thread count, paying attention to the pitch. 1/4-20, refers to a 1/4" shaft and 20 threads per inch. Metric is a little different though, but then again, so are the Europeans.

Do you know the manufacturer? To assemble a crib takes different lengths of bolts. Doesn't much matter if the bolts are standard or metric, the length is what is important.

Grab a couple different sizes that you think would fit and keep the reciept. Try them out and then you will know which one. You can bring the ones back that you didn't use.
